What is the difference, and which one is right for you?

The key difference: herbal tattoos develop color in the outer layer of your skin and are hard to wipe off once developed. Matte tattoos sit on the surface in an adhesive layer, show immediately and come off more easily when exposed to hot water.

1. How does each type work?

Herbal: Superinklab herbal temporary tattoos use all-natural herbal color-developing ingredients. These enter the outer layer of the skin and gradually create a stain. There is no surface adhesive film to peel away.

Matte: the design attaches to the surface of the skin through a thin adhesive layer. The matte finish reduces shine for a more natural-looking appearance.

2. When will you see the design?

Herbal tattoos develop over 24-48 hours. The design may look light at first, then gradually deepen in color. What you see immediately after application is not the final result. Apply 1-2 days before a date, trip or event.

Matte tattoos show as soon as application is complete. There is no 24-48-hour development period, making them convenient for same-day photos, parties and outfit changes.

3. What happens when they get wet?

For matte tattoos, hot water is the important distinction. They do not simply fall off whenever they touch ordinary water. Hot water can loosen the adhesive layer and make the design more likely to come off. Avoid prolonged hot-water rinsing over the tattoo and vigorous rubbing.

Herbal tattoos do not peel away like an adhesive film. Once developed, their color remains in the outer layer of the skin. A hot shower or ordinary washing will not usually remove the design immediately; it gradually fades as the outer skin renews.

4. Compare the two

5. Can you remove it right away?

Herbal tattoos are hard to erase once developed. You cannot peel them off or expect a few wipes to remove them. Choose the position and orientation carefully, and allow the stain to fade naturally rather than scrubbing hard.

Matte tattoos are generally easier to change. Follow the product instructions to remove the surface layer before trying another design.

6. Which one should you choose?

Choose herbal for a natural stain

If you like a design that blends into the skin, can wait 24-48 hours for the color to develop and do not need to change it immediately, choose herbal. Remember: once the color develops, it is hard to wipe off.

Choose matte for a same-day look

If you want to apply your tattoo and show it the same day, choose matte. It is a practical option for photos, events or trying different styles. Keep prolonged hot-water exposure in mind when caring for it.
